Improvement of technology in the future
Technology is always improving in the dairy sector with the ways cows are milked to how factories are run. All around New Zealand there are people with innovative ideas trying to make the dairy industry a more vibrant and economically profitable place. In 1999, (per GlobalDairyInnovation/Dairy
Milk Production) a new form of ventilation was introduced. This ventilation system kept cows from sweating due to the high temperatures which aided in the milk productivity. This is one example of how the dairy has been innovated over the years.By improving the technology associated with the dairy industry, the productivity and environmentally friendliness of the sheds and implements used on farms are also improved. This helps with the productivity and effectiveness with these farms which boasts well for the future.
One major change that is happening right now to the dairy industry is fully robotic milking is starting to be integrated into some sheds in the south island
These fully automated sheds look the way forward in the dairy industry. Imagine never having to step into a shed to milk cows. The amount of time and effort spent in the dairy shed could be minimised whilst the cows themselves would get used to being milked robotically.
Another change that is being brought in is the changes to how cow sheds operate. There are sheds in the south island where processes are being put in place to make the sheds self-contained. Besides robotically milking cows like I talked about before, there are processes in the shed such as automatic sprayers which remove the effuelent that is present after each milking. These improvements help the shed run more effectively which improves the production of the shed.
These changes are rapidly improving the technology in the future which boasts well for the economy but also New Zealand’s dairy farming sector.
